The Conference will be hosted by the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Hamburg University (Address: Von-Melle-Park 6, D-20146 Hamburg). The Institute is situated in the highest building on the campus of Hamburg University, the so-called "Philosophenturm" (Philosophers' Tower) near the Hamburg Dammtor railway station.

Directions to the conference site

We advise you to use public transport (more information at www.geofox.de), because there are hardly any parking-possibilities. The "Philosophenturm" may be reached from the city centre e.g. in the following ways:

From the airport Fuhlsbüttel

Take the bus, line 110 to Ohlsdorf Station. Then change to the metro U1 (direction Ohlstedt / Großhansdorf / Wandsbek) and exit at Stephansplatz. Exit direction Dammtor Bahnhof and turn left. You will have to cross a bridge for pedestrians and then enter the building of Hamburg Dammtor railway station.

By Train, S-Bahn

From the central station (Hauptbahnhof) take the suburb trains (S-Bahn) S 31 (direction Altona) or S 21 (direction Elbgaustraße) and exit at Hamburg Dammtor station. Most long-distance and regional trains stop directly at Hamburg Dammtor station. From the Dammtor station it is possible to walk (15 minutes walking distance to the conference site) or to take the bus.

By foot from the Dammtor station (Bahnhof Dammtor)

When you have reached Dammtor Station, take the exit Theodor-Heuss- Platz / Universität , cross the main street called "Edmund Siemers Allee" and then turn left. Walk along the road Edmund-Siemers-Allee until you reach the road called Grindelhof . Turn right at Grindelhof street and after a short time turn right at Salvador-Allende-Platz. Now you should see the University campus. The highest building on the left side is Von Melle Park 6 , the Philosophenturm .

By bus from the Dammtor station (Bahnhof Dammtor)

Take the exit Theodor-Heuss-Platz / Universität and cross the street to the bus stop. Take Bus #5, direction Nedderfeld /A Burgwedel, get off at Grindelhof or take Bus #4, direction Wildacker, get off at Grindelhof. Tickets are sold from vending machines at many bus stops, or by the driver on board. You will need a short-trip ticket ("Kurzstrecke") which costs 1.30 EUR. Turn right at Grindelhof street and after a short time turn right at Salvador-Allende- Platz. Now you should see the University campus. The highest building on the left side is Von Melle Park 6 , the Philosophenturm .

Conference office

During PoS-III, you will always find one of us at the conference office, located in the Philosophenturm on the 5th floor, room 503. In urgent cases, call us at (+49)(0)40 42838 - 4809 (only during the conference!). You should show up in the conference office in order to register for the conference and to get your conference materials. In front of the conference office, in the Café Vostok, you get refreshments and snacks during the breaks. All talks take place on the ground floor in the rooms E, F and G which are situated in the right wing of the Philosophenturm.
